Opera is an open source desktop web browser and internet suite developed by the Opera Software company with over 200 million users worldwide. It handles some common internet-related tasks such as displaying web sites, sending and receiving e-mail messages, managing contacts, chatting on IRC, downloading files via BitTorrent, and reading web feeds. Opera browser runs on a variety of operating systems, including Windows, Linux, Mac OS x and FreeBSD. Opera also has its editions for mobile devices such as Android, BlackBerry, Symbian, iOS and Windows Mobile.
Opera browser has some great features like tabbed browsing, page zooming, mouse gestures, and an built-in download manager. Its security features include built-in phishing and malware protection, SSL/TLS encryption while browsing HTTPS websites, and the ability to easily delete private data such as HTTP cookies. For more features check Opera 11.62 features.

This howto's guide shows you how to install Opera 11.62 browser on RHEL 6.2/6.1/6/5.8, CentOS 6.2/6.1/6/5.8, Fedora 16/15/14/13/12, Ubuntu 11.10/11.04/10.10/10.04, Debian and Linux Mint.
Currently, Opera doesn't provide any repositories to install. So, the only option is available to download the required RPM package but, Opera use LZMA/XZ compression on Opera rpm packages to keep them as small as possible. However, this has the drawback that Opera will not install on some older RPM-based distros as their RPM version does not support these latest compression methods. So, here we used repacked opera packages with LZMA/XZ compression support. so that they can be easily installed on older version of RHEL/CentOS/Fedora distributions.
