This practice became more and more popular as the 21st century began. People with little more than some knowledge of code were able to create websites quickly and begin generating traffic for various businesses’ websites. It provided side income for many. Some individuals managed to become millionaires, thanks to this practice.

This is not as easy as some would make it sound, however. Most people who have been successful at this will tell you that it takes hard work. In most cases, it may take months before you start to see any financial results from your work. Many online endeavors fail and never produce income for owners. Those who have earned a living from this practice have done so by starting many different websites and working constantly to improve them.

Blogs are essentially websites but their purpose and the way ownership is handled is a little different. With a website, you buy yearly rights to a domain address. You can then purchase software or hire a web designer to make a web page for you. These things cost money, though they usually cost very modest amounts. Depending on the company which provides your web address or blog, you can choose from a variety of advertisement methods. On some blogs, certain parts of your blog page are ready-made to accept advertisement banners. Once you install them, any visitor to your page can click on them and begin generating income for you.

This is unlikely to make you more than a few pennies, though. In order to get people to click on your advertisements, you will need to bring a lot of people to your web page. Search engine optimization is a set of techniques which help people locate your page when they look up certain topics.
