Increase Blog Traffic With Image Tagging

Increase Blog Traffic With Image Tagging This article will help you to understand a proper way of optimizing images and photos in blogs/websites. Google Image Search is the only source where millions of people like designers, developers and newbies looks for quality images, photos and icons for their references. Most of website/blogs traffic mainly depends on Image search. Daily there are thousands of bloggers add high quality images, icons and photos to their blog posts to attract their readers and visitors but adding images without tagging them properly is useless because search robots cannot read images if they are not well defined (TAGGED) properly. So, lets discuss the importance of Image Tagging in SEO.

What is Image Tag?

Tag is an simple HTML code that tells search robots what the image is all about. In short it is the description of image.
<img src="IMAGE LINK" />
The above code will display an image. But when search robots scan your content they look for image information, if they couldn't found any description of image, they simply don't index your images. So, you must add tag (i.e ALT Tag) to your all images to get indexed properly in Image search. This alt tag was introduced by Google. This alt tag tells the Google robots about your images. ALT tag example:
<img src="IMAGE LINK" alt="Blogger Tips" />
See the above highlighted code which tell the search robots that the image being displayed is about "alt="Blogger Tips"". You can add 2-3 words to describe your image by using Alt tag i.e alt="". Add image description between the inverted comma's.

Objective of Image Tags

  1. Tags allow readers to find your images.
  2. Tags are treated like keywords by search engines and other services to index your images.
  3. Tag the image with normal English words and avoid use of special characters like %, $, #, @,&, -, _ etc.
  4. Use only 2-3 words in image description.
  5. Always add description to images to match with your post titles.
  6. Use better and best keywords in image description.
